Mountains & Castles of North Wales
North Wales has some stunning landscapes with the soaring heights of Snowdonia and some of the best preserved castles in the UK.
This tour visits two castles, Conwy and Caernarfon, built by Edward I in the 13th century as part of his conquest of Wales. As you leave the coast and drive inland the landscape turns to pristine woodland with some picturesque a market towns such as Llanwrst, Llanberis and Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to Snowdonia.
Snowdonia is a unique landscape with14 peaks over 3,000ft, wooded valleys, rivers and lakes. Llanberis sits at the foot of Yr Wydda/Mount Snowdon which can be climbed by mountain cog railway.
From Blenau Ffestiniog we can take the Welsh Highland Railway to Porthmadog on the coast passing some outstanding scenery on the way.
