Stratford on Avon, Oxford & the Heart of England
This tour is easily accessible from London and covers some important and famous destinations in central England. We can tailor-make this tour to last from 2 to 5 days, or longer depending on the interests of your group.
Oxford and Stratford on Avon are understandably on many visitors’ lists but there are many other wonderful sites to be seen in the surrounding area such as the Cotswolds and Warwick Castle.
There are also many stately homes and beautiful gardens to visit in this part of the country, so according to your group’s interests we can suggest other great visits to put in your itinerary.
Day 1 – Walking tour of the historic centre of Oxford with its ancient colleges and cobbled streets. Hear tales of the many famous alumni of Oxford and also see where Harry Potter was filmed.
Drive through the Cotswolds to Stratford on Avon for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – This morning we visit the beautiful Ann Hathaway’s Cottage that belonged to Shakespeare’s wife. It’s also possible to see the Mary Arden’s House which belonged to Shakespeare’s mother.
We then enjoy a walking tour of Stratford on Avon to see the many historic buildings that are associated with Shakespeare’s life; his birthplace, the Holy Trinity church where he’s buried, Hall’s Croft where his daughter lived, the New Place where we can see the ruins of the house he bought once a successful playwright.
